BHEL sees 23% growth in order inflows in H1FY25

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) reported a 23% increase in order inflows in the first half of FY25, reaching Rs 41.09 billion, up from Rs 33.48 billion in H1FY24. The power sector led the order bookings, contributing 93% of the inflows.

As of September 30, 2024, BHEL’s outstanding order book stood at Rs 1.60 trillion, with 78.5% from the power sector, 19.1% from the industry sector, and 2.3% from exports. BHEL’s power T&D offerings fall within its “Industry” segment.

In Q2FY25 alone, BHEL secured orders worth Rs 31.6 billion, a surge compared to Q1FY25’s Rs 9.49 billion. Key power orders in Q2FY25 included:

  • EPC packages for 2×800 MW Koderma Phase-II TPS in Jharkhand and 1×800 MW Sipat Stage-III in Chhattisgarh
  • Boiler, Turbine, and Generator packages for projects in Kawai, Rajasthan, and Mahan, Madhya Pradesh
  • A pilot project for methanol firing in gas turbines at Kayamkulam

For the industry segment, BHEL received EPC orders for 765kV substations in Mandsaur and Indore, transformer supplies for Indian Railways and steel industries, and diesel-electric shunting locomotives. Export orders included two 175 MW air-cooled generators for Botswana’s Mmamabula Thermal Power Project.

The Rs 13 billion Koderma Phase-II order from Damodar Valley Corporation significantly boosted Q2FY25 inflows, underscoring BHEL’s continued expansion in the power sector.
