The survey for a proposed Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) near Arasinakeri Bear Sanctuary and Hirebenkala Megalithic sites in Koppal, Karnataka, has faced local opposition due to concerns over environmental impacts and the preservation of heritage sites.
The proposed project aims to use 485.62 hectares of land in Gangavati taluk near Chikka Benakal. A report on the land survey has already been submitted to the Koppal district administration. Despite the Central Government’s plan to implement the NPP in this area, opposition persists from local communities and environmental groups.
