Bajel Projects secures mega GIS substation EPC order in Mumbai

Bajel Projects Limited office

Bajel Projects Limited has secured a mega engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) order for a 400/220/33 kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation for a data centre project in Mumbai.

According to the company’s stock exchange filing, the contract has been awarded by a domestic data centre client and falls under the company’s “Mega” project classification category, covering orders valued between Rs 300 crore and Rs 400 crore, inclusive of goods and services tax (GST).

Project scope

The scope of work includes design, engineering, procurement, supply, erection, testing, commissioning, and performance testing of the 400/220/33 kV GIS substation.

The project is scheduled to be completed within 24 months from the commencement date.

Data centre power infrastructure

The project reflects increasing investments in high-capacity transmission and substation infrastructure to support India’s expanding data centre sector, particularly in Mumbai, which remains one of the country’s largest data centre markets.

GIS substations are increasingly being deployed for urban and data centre applications due to their compact footprint and suitability for high-load, space-constrained environments.

Transaction details

The company stated that neither its promoters, promoter group entities, nor group companies hold any interest in the awarding entity. The contract also does not qualify as a related party transaction.

Under Bajel Projects’ internal order classification framework, projects valued between Rs 300 crore and Rs 400 crore are categorised as mega orders.
