Bajel, Kalpataru, Skipper in race for MP’s 600 MW solar evacuation project

Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Limited (MPPTCL) has admitted technical bids from three companies for a turnkey transmission project to evacuate 600 MW from the Morena Phase-1 Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh. The admitted bidders are Bajel Projects Limited, Kalpataru Projects International Limited, and Skipper Limited.

The project is being implemented under the Madhya Pradesh Renewable Energy Scaling Up Project and is partially financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The estimated contract value is at least Rs 520 crore (US $62 million).

The turnkey project has been divided into two components. Part A, under MPPTCL, includes the construction of a 400 kV substation at Sabalgarh and a 400 kV double-circuit double-string (DCDS) transmission line using Quad Moose Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR) conductor from Morena Pooling Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) to Sabalgarh.

This component also includes the 220 kV loop-in loop-out (LILO) of both circuits of the existing Morena (MPPTCL)–Morena (Adani) transmission line to the proposed 400 kV substation at Sabalgarh.

Part B, to be implemented by Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL), covers the construction of 33/220 kV pooling substations at PSS-1 and PSS-2, along with associated 220 kV transmission lines connecting these substations to the 400 kV substation at Sabalgarh.
