ARCO/Murray has been selected to construct a solar manufacturing hub for Boviet Solar in North Carolina, USA.

The project, expected to create 900 local jobs, will be executed in two phases to expand solar module and cell production.

Phase one, which began in Q3 2024, involves converting an existing 500,000 square-foot facility into a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant for solar modules using Boviet Solar’s technology. The modules will be used in residential, commercial, and utility-scale applications across the US. ARCO/Murray’s responsibilities include upgrading the building’s infrastructure, installing production equipment, and supporting start-up operations.

Phase two, scheduled for Q4 2024, will add a new 600,000 square-foot facility to produce 2 GW of advanced solar cells annually. This expansion will enhance solar power system efficiency and output. The construction will involve international equipment suppliers and local partners, including the development of a substation and wastewater treatment plant to meet facility demands.

Once complete, the hub will produce 2 GW of solar modules and 2 GW of solar cells annually, strengthening the US solar supply chain and advancing the country’s renewable energy goals.

Rick Guth, ARCO/Murray’s vice-president, highlighted the partnership with Boviet Solar as a demonstration of the company’s expertise in managing complex design-build projects and commitment to sustainable development.
