ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Limited (AMNS) has commissioned a 661 MW (925 MWp) solar power project in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.
The project is part of “Project Trinity,” a 975 MW wind-solar hybrid initiative that includes 661 MW of solar and 314 MW of wind power. It spans 3,500 acres across Alamuru village in Nandyal district and other villages in Kurnool district.
The project will be integrated with the pumped hydro storage component of the Integrated Renewable Energy Project (IREP) developed by Greenko Energies Private Limited (GEPL) in Kurnool.
This integration will enable a round-the-clock renewable energy supply to AMNS for its Hazira steel plant in Gujarat under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA).
AMNS and GEPL signed an agreement for the project’s development in March 2022.
