APTRANSCO submits Phase-3 Green Energy Corridor plan to CEA

APTRANSCO has submitted final proposals for the Green Energy Corridor Phase-3 to the Central Electricity Authority (CEA). The Rs 28,033 crore plan will integrate 11 GW of solar and 7,373 MW of pumped storage projects through 8,862 CKM of new lines and 9,500 MVA of added capacity.

Reportedly, APTRANSCO is executing 69 transmission projects worth Rs 8,638 crore, adding 14,046 MVA and 2,041 CKM. Transmission losses dropped to 2.60 per cent in 2024-25. Non-tariff revenue rose to Rs 174.47 crore from Rs 27.94 crore by leasing OPGW fibres. The utility also secured ISO 27001:2022 certification, and its Joint Meter Reading app is expected to save Rs 750 crore.

APGENCO projects include 1,190 MW of hydropower (Polavaram 960 MW, Lower Sileru 230 MW) and 6,020 MW of pumped storage, with 5,070 MW in JV with NHPC and 950 MW at Kamalapadu.

DISCOMs reduced distribution losses to 7.07 per cent and AT&C losses to 8 per cent, commissioning 52 substations by June 2025. Under PM-KUSUM, solar feeders are being set up for 2.93 lakh farm pumps, while 39,863 homes adopted rooftop solar under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.

The Integrated Clean Energy Policy, 2024, targets Net Zero for Andhra Pradesh by 2047 with expected investment of Rs 4.56 lakh crore and 4.09 lakh new jobs.
