Andhra Pradesh clears 2,250 MW Gandikota-2 PSP for Adani Group
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has approved the allocation of the 2,250 MW Gandikota-2 Pumped Storage Project (PSP) in Kadapa district to Adani Hydro Energy Eleven Limited (AHE11L). The approval further expands the state’s clean energy and energy storage pipeline under its renewable energy development plans.
The project received clearance from the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB), chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
The proposed PSP will be developed at the Lord Balaji Donthi Kona PSP Park in the Gandikota reservoir area of Kadapa district. Adani Hydro Energy Eleven Limited, part of the Adani Group, will execute the project under the Andhra Pradesh Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024. The project has a planned capacity of 2,250 MW and is scheduled for completion within 72 months.
As part of the approvals, the state government sanctioned a one-time initial filling requirement of 29.20 million cubic metres (MCM) of water from the existing Gandikota reservoir. In addition, annual evaporation losses of 2.20 MCM per year were approved, subject to prevailing guidelines.
The project will also be eligible for incentives available under the Andhra Pradesh Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024.
The approval comes as Andhra Pradesh continues to expand its renewable energy, storage, and grid infrastructure pipeline to position itself as a major clean energy investment destination.
