Alpex Solar to expand UP cell plant to 2.2 GW

Alpex Solar Limited has approved the expansion of its proposed solar cell manufacturing facility in Kosi Kotwan, Uttar Pradesh, from 1.6 GW to 2.2 GW. The company will also adopt advanced G12R tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) technology as part of the upgrade.
The total capital expenditure for the expansion and technology transition is estimated at Rs 31.36 billion, which will be fully financed through internal accruals.
Under the revised plan, the first phase will establish 1.4 GW of G12R TOPCon capacity, with trial production scheduled for the first quarter of FY2026–27. The second phase will add 800 MW within six months of phase I completion, bringing the total capacity to 2.2 GW. The entire facility is expected to become operational during FY2026–27.
