PFC Consulting Limited (PFCCL) transferred Mundra I Transmission Limited, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) for development of the Transmission System for supply of power to Green Hydrogen/Ammonia manufacturing potential in Mundra area of Gujarat (3 GW) Under Phase-I Part B1 on March 20, 2025.
PFCCL had invited Request for Proposal (RFP) bids for the project in October 2024.
Competitive bidding process
PFCCL, acting as the bid process coordinator (BPC), is responsible for selecting a transmission service provider (TSP) through a tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process. The SPV, Mundra I Transmission Limited, was incorporated by PFCCL on December 27, 2024, to implement the project.
Scope of the project
The transmission system will involve several key infrastructure developments at the 765/400 kV Navinal (Mundra) substation (GIS). The scope includes:
- Augmentation of transformation capacity with 2×1500 MVA ICTs, 2×330 MVAr 765 kV bus reactors, and 3×125 MVAr 420 kV bus reactors.
- Creation of new 765 kV and 400 kV Bus Section-II along with sectionalizers for improved grid stability.
- Navinal (Mundra) (GIS) – Bhuj 765 kV double-circuit (D/C) line, including installation of 765 kV line bays at both ends.
- STATCOM installation at 400 kV Bus Section-I and Section-II, each equipped with ±300 MVAr STATCOM, 2×125 MVAr mechanically switched capacitors (MSC), and 1×125 MVAr mechanically switched reactor (MSR).
The project is expected to enhance power reliability and grid stability, ensuring an efficient power supply to upcoming green hydrogen and ammonia manufacturing units in the region.
