ACWA Power has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) renewables division for the development of the renewables and grid components of the Yanbu green ammonia project in Saudi Arabia. The project is planned as a fully integrated hub powered entirely by solar and wind energy.
The MoU covers multiple facilities, including solar photovoltaic plants, wind projects, battery energy storage systems, substations, and transmission infrastructure. It defines collaboration on design, configuration, and performance requirements for the renewables and grid scope. L&T is expected to take up an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract once the final plan is approved.
ACWA Power stated the partnership supports Saudi Arabia’s role in the global energy transition and aims to produce green ammonia for international markets.
T Madhava Das, Member of the Board and Senior Executive Vice President (Utilities) at L&T, highlighted Saudi Arabia’s strategic position for renewable energy production and regional energy integration. He said the collaboration with ACWA Power strengthens L&T’s commitment to large-scale clean energy projects along the India–Middle East–Europe corridor.
