ACME Group has signed a partnership with the Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation of Odisha Limited (IPICOL) to develop a 200 kilo tonnes per annum green methanol manufacturing facility in Kendrapada district. The project will be implemented through ACME Akshya Energy and is expected to generate more than 1,100 jobs, marking the first large-scale green methanol initiative in the state.

The IPICOL will facilitate the project, which forms part of ACME Group’s expanding green hydrogen and derivatives business. The Kendrapada facility is aligned with the company’s strategy to scale production of green fuels using renewable energy.

Alongside this project, ACME Group is jointly developing a green ammonia manufacturing facility in Gopalpur, Odisha, in partnership with IHI Corporation of Japan. Both projects are part of the company’s wider push to establish an integrated green hydrogen, ammonia and methanol ecosystem in the state.

According to ACME Group, the green methanol initiative supports India’s objective of emerging as a global production hub for green hydrogen and its downstream products. The company plans to set up multiple green hydrogen and ammonia facilities in and around Paradip and Gopalpur, with production targeted at both domestic consumption and exports.

Anil Kumar Taparia, Chief Operating Officer of ACME Green Hydrogen, said Odisha’s availability of renewable energy, combined with its industrial base and port infrastructure, makes it well-suited for large-scale production of green molecules such as green methanol.
