ACME Group has entered into a binding 10-year agreement with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to supply 370,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) of green ammonia.
The contract, valued at an estimated INR 20,000 crore over its duration, is linked to capacity secured by ACME under Mode-2A, Tranche-I of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Scheme, the country’s first procurement initiative for green hydrogen and ammonia.
The agreement marks a step in India’s transition to low-carbon inputs in the fertilizer sector. ACME will set up a green ammonia production facility in Odisha and supply the contracted volumes to six fertilizer plants across five states on the eastern and western coasts.
SECI, acting as the intermediary aggregator, has signed corresponding green ammonia sale agreements (GASA) with fertilizer companies to ensure demand visibility and supply alignment. The contracted buyers and volumes include Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Ltd (IFFCO) at its Kandla plant in Gujarat and Paradeep plant in Odisha with 100,000 tpa each; Paradeep Phosphates Ltd (PPL) at Paradeep in Odisha with 75,000 tpa and at Goa with 25,000 tpa; India Potash Ltd (IPL) at Haldia in West Bengal with 20,000 tpa; and Coromandel International Ltd (CIL) at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh with 50,000 tpa.
Anil Taparia, Chief Operating Officer of ACME Green Hydrogen and Ammonia Business, said the partnership with SECI, MNRE, and MoCF supports India’s decarbonisation efforts in the fertilizer sector. He added that the agreement reflects the Government of India’s focus on improving energy security for fertilizers and demonstrates the commercial viability of large-scale green ammonia production and adoption at competitive costs.
