Energy and marine consultancy ABL, part of the ABL Group, has been awarded a contract to provide marine warranty survey (MWS) services for Iberdrola’s 315 MW Windanker offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea, 25 km offshore Germany.
ABL Germany, based in Hamburg, will oversee the offshore transportation and installation of foundations, inter-array cables, and wind turbine generators for the project, which will include 21 turbines, each with 15 MW capacity. Installation activities are planned for 2025 and 2026, with project commissioning expected by the end of 2026.
ABL’s role involves technical review and approval of documents, operations, and vessels to ensure compliance with required standards throughout the installation process. The project builds on ABL’s previous collaboration with Iberdrola on Germany’s Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm.
In a related development, Iberdrola has signed a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with ceramics manufacturer Gres Panaria Portugal. Starting in 2025, the agreement will supply 92 GWh of photovoltaic solar energy, helping Gres Panaria reduce its carbon footprint, enhance sustainability, and stabilize electricity costs amid energy market volatility.
