The Maharashtra government has signed MoUs with four companies worth Rs 475 billion to develop renewable energy projects, in line with the state’s goal to achieve 50% renewable energy by 2030. These projects are expected to create 18,828 jobs, as announced by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The companies involved include SJVN, MahaGenco Renewable Energy Ltd, RECPDCL, THDC, and HPRGE-HPCL. Key projects under these agreements include:

  • RECPDCL: A 500 MW hybrid project with an investment of Rs 30 billion, generating 1,663 jobs.
  • THDCIL: Renewable energy projects with a 4,250 MW capacity and an investment of Rs 293.29 billion, creating 14,130 direct and 4,250 indirect jobs.
  • HPRGE-HPCL: A green hydrogen plant in Uran, Raigad, with a 50 KTPA capacity, developed with an investment of Rs 120 billion, creating 1,635 jobs.
  • SJVN: A 505 MW floating solar plant on Lower Wardha Dam, developed in two phases with an investment of Rs 30.30 billion, generating 1,400 jobs.

These initiatives aim to contribute to India’s target of zero carbon emissions by 2070, with the state government ensuring full cooperation for timely project execution.
