ENEOS Holdings’ renewable energy arm, Eneos Renewable Energy, has acquired a 20% interest in the GoliatVind floating offshore wind farm project in Norway. Located between the northern Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea, the 75 MW project will feature five 15 MW wind turbines mounted on semi-submersible steel foundations developed by Odfjell Oceanwind. The project aims for commercial operation by 2028.

The other stakeholders include Galileo Norge, which holds the largest share at 40%, alongside Odfjell Oceanwind and Kansai Electric Power Group, each holding 20%. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

This marks Eneos Renewable Energy’s second investment in floating offshore wind, following its involvement in the Gotō City offshore wind project in Japan. Floating wind power is still in its early stages in Japan, with a target of 45 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2040. Norway is also focusing on floating offshore wind to support its offshore supply industry, with the GoliatVind project receiving Nkr2 billion ($189 million) in state funding earlier this year.
