PGCIL commissions Rajasthan REZ Phase-III Part-H transmission project
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has commissioned the “Transmission System for evacuation of Power from REZ in Rajasthan (20 GW) under Phase-III Part-H”, with the project achieving commercial operation on July 4, 2026.
According to a regulatory filing, PGCIL received the Declaration of Commercial Operation (DOCO) notification dated July 9, 2026, through email on August 3, 2026. The project was originally implemented by POWERGRID Beawar Dausa Transmission Limited, which was amalgamated with POWERGRID Vataman Transmission Limited with effect from March 1, 2026.
Project assets
The transmission scheme comprises a 765 kV double-circuit transmission line between Beawar and Dausa with a total length of about 474 circuit kilometres (ckm).
It also includes the Loop-In-Loop-Out (LILO) of both circuits of the Jaipur (Phagi)-Gwalior 765 kV double-circuit transmission line at Dausa, spanning 133 ckm, and the LILO of both circuits of the Agra-Jaipur (South) 400 kV double-circuit transmission line at Dausa, covering 45 ckm.
The project further includes a 2×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV substation at Dausa.
Commissioning
According to a Central Electricity Authority (CEA) report, the LILO of the Agra-Jaipur (South) 400 kV double-circuit transmission line at Dausa was charged on July 13, 2025.
The Dausa 765/400 kV substation, equipped with 2×1500 MVA interconnecting transformers (ICTs), was fully charged on January 6, 2026. On the same day, the first circuit of the Jaipur (Phagi)-Gwalior 765 kV double-circuit transmission line was also charged, while the second circuit was charged on March 10, 2026.
The Beawar-Dausa 765 kV double-circuit transmission line, which encountered Right-of-Way issues at seven locations in Ajmer district, Rajasthan, and required forest clearance for 5.58 hectares, has now been fully commissioned with stringing completed across 435.20 ckm. The project achieved commercial operation on July 4, 2026.
The transmission project forms part of the evacuation infrastructure planned for Rajasthan’s 20 GW Renewable Energy Zone (REZ). The scheme is designed to facilitate the evacuation of renewable power generated in the state and strengthen transmission capacity for integrating large-scale solar and wind generation into the national grid.
