Sunsure Energy has commissioned a 105 MWp solar power project in Mahoba district of Uttar Pradesh, becoming the first renewable energy developer to evacuate green power through the state’s Green Energy Corridor-II infrastructure.

The project is located in Kabrai village and was completed within four months of signing the power purchase agreement (PPA). Spread across 282 acres, the plant is connected to the grid through a dedicated 7-km, 132 kV transmission line and evacuates electricity via the newly energised 220 kV Kabrai substation.

The commissioning marks the first instance of renewable power evacuation through the Uttar Pradesh Green Energy Corridor-II network, which is being developed by Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited (UPPTCL). The corridor project involves an investment of nearly Rs 5,400 crore for the development of 21 substations and associated transmission infrastructure to evacuate around 4,000 MW of solar power from the Bundelkhand region.

According to the company, the project is expected to generate more than 16.7 crore units annually, sufficient to supply electricity to nearly 1.4 lakh Indian households for one year. The plant is also projected to offset around 1.2 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide (COâ‚‚) emissions annually and nearly 3 million tonnes over its operational lifetime.

Shashank Sharma, Founder, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sunsure Energy, said Uttar Pradesh’s focus on integrating clean energy with manufacturing clusters creates a strong benchmark for industrial energy transition.

With the latest commissioning, Sunsure Energy’s operational portfolio in Uttar Pradesh has reached 365 MWp across 11 projects. Under its UP Shakti initiative launched in 2023, the company aims to scale this capacity to 500 MW by the end of FY26. The expansion plan also includes a 125 MW / 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project.
