Hygreen Energy to invest over $2.2 billion in green hydrogen initiatives in Spain

Hygreen Energy and its partners plan to invest more than $2.2 billion in green hydrogen projects in Andalusia, Spain. This investment will support the development of new green hydrogen plants as well as a facility to produce electrolysers. Initially, the plant will focus on producing 5 MW electrolysers to support green hydrogen production.

In July 2024, the European Commission approved a Spanish scheme to boost renewable hydrogen investments, part of the state aid Temporary Crisis and Transition Framework. This scheme aims to establish hydrogen clusters or valleys crucial to Spain’s green economy transition.

Hygreen Energy, a global electrolyzer manufacturer, currently has a 2 GW annual manufacturing capacity and plans to expand to 5 GW by 2025, reinforcing its role in the global green hydrogen sector.
