Suzlon wins 201 MW wind EPC order from Waaree Group
Suzlon Energy Limited has secured a 201.6 MW wind energy order from Waaree Forever Energies Private Limited (WFEPL), the independent power producer (IPP) arm of the Waaree Group. The project will be developed in Andhra Pradesh and marks Waaree Group’s entry into the wind energy sector.
The order is Suzlon’s second consecutive engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract under its project development company (DevCo) model within a week, reflecting growing demand for integrated renewable energy project execution services.
Project scope
Under the contract, Suzlon will supply 64 units of its S144 wind turbine generators, each rated at 3.15 MW, taking the project’s total capacity to 201.6 MW.
The company’s scope of work extends beyond turbine supply and includes land acquisition, balance of plant (BoP) works, commissioning, and lifetime operations and maintenance services. Following this order, Suzlon’s cumulative order book in Andhra Pradesh has reached nearly 1 GW.
The project also highlights the increasing adoption of the DevCo model within the renewable energy sector. Under this approach, developers engage a single entity for end-to-end project development and execution, covering activities ranging from land acquisition and infrastructure development to commissioning and long-term asset management.
The model is gaining traction as developers seek to reduce execution risks, shorten project timelines and deploy renewable energy projects at larger scales.
