KPI Green commissions 200 MW AC solar capacity for Coal India at Khavda
KPI Green Energy Limited has commissioned 200 MW (AC) / 269 MW (DC) of solar capacity under a larger 300 MW (AC) / 405 MW (DC) grid-connected ground-mounted solar photovoltaic project being developed for Coal India Limited at Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited’s (GIPCL) Solar Park in Khavda, Gujarat.
The company disclosed the development in a regulatory filing, stating that the commissioned capacity has been certified by the Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA).
The project is being executed on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis for Coal India Limited. The remaining 100 MW (AC) / 136 MW (DC) capacity is yet to be commissioned.
Khavda presence
The latest commissioning further strengthens KPI Green’s presence at Khavda, which has emerged as one of India’s largest renewable energy hubs and is expected to host several gigawatts of solar and wind capacity over the coming years.
The project also adds to the company’s utility-scale EPC portfolio, reflecting its continued participation in large renewable energy developments being undertaken by public sector entities.
Growth plans
KPI Green stated that the commissioning aligns with its broader growth strategy as it works towards building a 10 GW clean energy portfolio by 2030.
The announcement comes days after the company disclosed receiving Chief Electrical Inspector to Government (CEIG) approval for a separate 100 MW solar project being developed for Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MAHAGENCO) in Maharashtra.
With projects under execution across multiple states, KPI Green continues to expand its presence in the utility-scale solar segment through a combination of independent power production and EPC contracts.
