LONGi begins mass production of ACM solar cell technology
LONGi has commenced mass production of its Advanced Contact Matrix (ACM) solar cells at one of its manufacturing bases, marking the commercial rollout of the company’s latest solar cell technology.
The company said the transition follows the successful development of ACM technology across materials, manufacturing processes and production equipment. Since its pilot production line delivered its first commercial order in December 2025, the technology has progressed from laboratory development to commercial manufacturing through coordinated research and development (R&D) and production efforts.
According to LONGi, the ACM solar cell has achieved a certified conversion efficiency of 27.6%, verified by the Hamelin Institute for Solar Energy in Germany.
The corresponding ACM module has received certification from TÜV Rheinland for a maximum power output of 672 W.
The company said production data indicate that ACM technology improves mass-production conversion efficiency by 0.2-0.3 percentage points while increasing module power output by 3-5 W compared with its previous manufacturing platform.
LONGi added that the technology has completed gigawatt-scale pilot production and qualification, demonstrating stable manufacturing performance and product reliability.
The company stated that coordinated operations across multiple sites enabled its new materials plant to progress from project initiation to mass production within three months.
According to LONGi, the production ramp-up period was reduced by 20 days compared with its standard deployment schedule. The company said the shorter implementation cycle provides a foundation for replicating ACM production across additional manufacturing facilities.
LONGi said the integration of its Back Contact (BC) 2.0 platform with ACM manufacturing processes represents a key step in its technology roadmap for improving solar cell efficiency.
The company also stated that it has established an intellectual property portfolio covering ACM materials, manufacturing processes and equipment integration, and intends to continue working with supply-chain partners as it expands production capacity.
With commercial production now underway, LONGi plans to continue scaling ACM manufacturing across multiple production sites while advancing further technology upgrades.
