Resonia wins Kurnool IV REZ transmission project from Ministry of Power

Resonia Limited has secured the Kurnool IV REZ Power Transmission Limited project from the Ministry of Power. The inter-state transmission system (ISTS) project is aimed at strengthening transmission connectivity between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and facilitating the integration of renewable energy from the Kurnool Renewable Energy Zone (REZ).

The project is designed to support the evacuation of around 3 GW of renewable energy planned under Kurnool IV REZ Phase II.

Project scope

The transmission project spans approximately 120 km and includes the establishment of a 765/400 kV Doma substation and augmentation of the existing Kurnool-IV pooling station.

The scope also covers loop-in loop-out of the Kurnool-IV–Bidar 765 kV double-circuit transmission line at Doma and the development of associated high-capacity transmission infrastructure.

In addition, the project includes the construction of two 400 kV double-circuit transmission lines connecting the Doma substation with the existing Shadnagar and Kethiredipally substations of Telangana Transmission Corporation Limited.

Renewable energy integration

The transmission system is intended to strengthen inter-state power transfer capability between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana while enabling large-scale renewable energy evacuation from the Kurnool REZ.

The project forms part of the transmission infrastructure being developed to support the expansion of renewable energy generation and grid integration in southern India.

Company statement

Prashant Sinha, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Resonia Limited, said the project highlights the increasing requirement for high-capacity interstate transmission infrastructure to support renewable energy growth and grid reliability.

He said the project would help facilitate clean energy integration and support regional and national decarbonisation objectives through enhanced transmission connectivity.
