Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that Pahadpur village in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district will be developed as a “Solar Village” with the objective of providing solar energy access to every household in the village.

The announcement was made during the ‘Vikas Ra Dhara, Odisha Sara’ public programme held on Saturday to mark the completion of two years of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Odisha.

Addressing the gathering, Modi said Pahadpur would emerge as a renewable energy hub and gain recognition through its solar energy initiative. Drawing a comparison with the Konark Sun Temple, he said the village would develop its own identity through the Solar Village programme. “Just as Odisha’s Konark Sun Temple has a unique identity, Pahadpur will earn the identity of a Solar Village,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister also highlighted ongoing industrial development in Odisha and said the government is working to convert the state’s natural resources into economic opportunities.

He cited the ‘Utkarsh Odisha’ initiative as a key platform for attracting domestic and international investment, leading to the establishment of new industries in the state.

“Large investments are coming to Odisha, new industries are being set up here, and campaigns like Utkarsh Odisha are being run for this purpose,” he said.
