GE Vernova to supply 100 MW wind project in Gujarat

GE Vernova Inc. has signed an agreement with Powerica Limited to supply 28 units of its 3.8 MW–154m onshore wind turbines for the 100 MW Botad Wind Farm in Gujarat.

The project marks the first deployment of GE Vernova’s 3.8 MW–154m turbine in the Indian market. The scope includes the supply and installation of turbines, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026. The project is the fourth wind farm collaboration between GE Vernova and Powerica.

Powerica secured the project’s Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) through a competitive auction conducted by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL). The company won approximately 106.40 MW capacity at a tariff of Rs 3.44 per unit.

ALMM approval

GE Vernova stated that it has received certification from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and has been included in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) for wind turbines.

The company said the turbines for the project will be manufactured at its Pune facility, which is expected to support up to 1,500 MW of annual production capacity at full utilisation. GE Vernova also operates a Technology Center in Bengaluru and a blade manufacturing facility in Vadodara.

Turbine features

According to the company, the 3.8 MW–154m turbine has been designed for Indian wind conditions and includes features such as a 30-year turbine life, advanced lightning protection, and digital blade certification for each blade produced.

The turbine also incorporates a tubular steel tower design and 650T crane installation capability aimed at reducing execution time and project costs.

Installed capacity

GE Vernova’s wind business crossed 5 GW of installed capacity in India in 2025. Globally, the company stated that it has an installed base of nearly 59,000 wind turbines representing close to 120 GW of capacity.
