Godawari New Energy Private Limited (GNEPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Godawari Power and Ispat Limited (GPIL), has entered into a five-year supply agreement with EVE Power Co. Ltd (EVE Power) for lithium ferro phosphate (LFP) cells. The agreement, disclosed in a regulatory filing dated April 13, 2026, is intended to support the first phase of GNEPL’s planned 20 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing programme.
The contract covers the supply of 628 Ah LFP cells, which will be used on GNEPL’s BESS assembly line. LFP chemistry is widely adopted in stationary energy storage due to its thermal stability, long cycle life, and lower cost relative to other lithium-ion chemistries. The 628 Ah specification represents a higher-capacity prismatic format, aligning with the industry shift toward larger cells to reduce system complexity and assembly costs.
EVE Power, based in China, is among the larger manufacturers of LFP cells, with operations spanning consumer batteries, electric vehicle applications, and grid-scale storage. Under the agreement, GNEPL will procure Grade 1 cells, which represent the highest quality classification under standard cell grading systems. This is relevant for establishing product reliability in the BESS segment.
For GPIL, headquartered in Raipur, the agreement signals progress in its diversification into clean energy manufacturing through GNEPL. A long-term supply arrangement for cells, which account for a significant share of BESS costs and face periodic supply constraints, provides greater visibility on procurement and timelines as the company develops its manufacturing capacity.
The filing does not disclose the total contract value, annual supply volumes, or the location of the proposed manufacturing facility. The commercial terms have been described as mutually agreed between the parties.
