Tata Power and Databricks executives pose at a partnership event announcing enterprise AI and data platform deployment for energy operations, including renewables and grid management.

Tata Power has entered into an enterprise-wide partnership with US-based Databricks to deploy data and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions across its operations, including renewable energy forecasting, solar manufacturing, and rooftop solar business management.

The company will consolidate its data engineering, analytics, and AI workloads onto a single platform, replacing fragmented systems and data silos across business verticals. Targeted applications include grid management, power planning and optimisation, billing and collections, customer services, and renewable-specific functions.

A key component of the rollout is Genie, Databricks’ natural language AI agent, which enables employees to query enterprise data using plain language and generate analytics and dashboards without technical intermediaries. Tata Power plans to establish an internal Centre of Excellence (CoE) to support deployment and develop AI-led applications over time.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director Dr. Praveer Sinha stated that the partnership is aimed at supporting the company’s transition toward cleaner energy through improved operational efficiency and integration capabilities. Databricks India Managing Director Kamalkanth Tummala indicated that the collaboration reflects increasing adoption of AI among Indian enterprises.

Tata Power has a diversified portfolio exceeding 16 GW, spanning generation, transmission, distribution, solar manufacturing, and rooftop solar installation. The company has set a net-zero target ahead of 2045.
