Indsil Hydro Power and Manganese Limited has upgraded its power receiving substation at its Garbham unit in Vizianagaram district, Andhra Pradesh, from 33 kV to 132 kV. The upgrade is expected to reduce electricity tariff costs at the facility, according to a regulatory disclosure.
The Garbham unit now operates at a higher receiving voltage of 132 kV, replacing the earlier 33 kV level. Industrial consumers connected at higher voltage levels typically benefit from lower tariff structures under high-tension supply, leading to reduced power costs. The company has not disclosed the capital expenditure incurred for this upgrade.
The development aligns with ongoing efforts by the Andhra Pradesh government to strengthen power distribution infrastructure across the state. Vizianagaram district is among the areas seeing network expansion to meet rising demand from industrial, commercial, domestic, and agricultural segments.
Around 200 substations are under construction across Andhra Pradesh, including new 33/11 kV facilities in high-load areas. In Vizianagaram district, two 220 kV projects valued at about Rs 46 crore are under implementation, while a 220/132 kV substation at Venugopalapuram is in the re-tendering stage, with completion targeted by March 2027.
