The Ministry of Power (MoP) has authorised three companies to lay overhead transmission lines for renewable energy projects in Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. The approvals have been issued under Section 164 of the Electricity Act, 2003, granting powers equivalent to those of a telegraph authority for the purpose of executing transmission infrastructure linked to renewable energy evacuation.
Rajasthan REZ Phase IV, Part B
Rajasthan IV 4B Power Transmission Limited has been authorised to develop three overhead transmission lines under the system for the evacuation of power from Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone Phase IV (Part 4: 3.5 GW), Part B. These include the Barmer-I PS to Merta-II 765 kV double-circuit line, the Merta-II to Beawar 400 kV double-circuit line, and the Merta-II to Dausa 765 kV double-circuit line. The routes pass through multiple villages across Jodhpur, Barmer, Nagaur, Jaipur, Dausa, and Ajmer districts.
Prior approval under Section 68(1) was granted on November 18, 2024. Public notices were issued in March and April 2025, and the developer submitted an affidavit in March 2026 confirming that no objections were received. The authorisation is valid for 25 years and is subject to conditions, including obtaining approvals from local authorities, railways, and highway agencies, compliance with regulatory norms, and securing civil aviation and defence clearances. If any section of the route falls within the revised Great Indian Bustard habitat, the company is required to comply with the Supreme Court’s order dated December 19, 2025 in Writ Petition (Civil) No. 838 of 2019.
Tata Power Renewable Energy, Maharashtra
Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has received authorisation to construct a 400 kV single-circuit transmission line of about 18.3 km, connecting its proposed switchyard at Washi in Dharashiv district to the TSPPL Common substation at Nandurghat in Beed district. The line will provide connectivity for a 302.8 MW wind power project.
Section 68(1) approval was issued on September 17, 2024. Public notices were published in August 2025. The company confirmed through an affidavit dated January 20, 2026 that no representations were received. The 25-year authorisation includes standard conditions on statutory clearances and regulatory compliance.

Adani Wind Energy Kutchh Three Limited has been authorised to lay a 220 kV single-circuit transmission line from its generation switchyard at Beraja village in Mundra taluka, Kutch, to the Navinal (Mundra) gas-insulated substation. The line, to be installed on double-circuit or multi-circuit towers, will support a 300 MW wind power project.
Approval under Section 68(1) was granted on June 2, 2025. Public notices were issued in June 2025. The company submitted an affidavit on February 11, 2026 confirming that no objections were received. The authorisation is valid for 25 years and includes conditions related to Great Indian Bustard habitat compliance, where applicable, in line with the Supreme Court’s December 2025 order.
