BHEL secures Rs 13,500 crore NTPC Telangana Stage-II contract

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has received a Notification of Award (NOA) from NTPC Limited for the 3×800 MW Telangana Stage-II supercritical thermal power project in Peddapalli district, Telangana. The contract is valued at over Rs 13,500 crore, excluding Goods and Services Tax (GST), with an execution period of 62 months. The scope includes design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, commissioning, and testing of the main plant package. The project will add 2,400 MW capacity and use ultra-supercritical technology within the existing Ramagundam plant premises.

Bihar plans BSPTCL IPO, eyes first state transmission listing

The Bihar government is preparing to list Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited (BSPTCL) on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), potentially making it the first state-owned transmission utility to go public. The state has issued an Expression of Interest (EoI) to appoint merchant bankers, with issue size to be finalised later. BSPTCL reported total income of Rs 1,968 crore and profit after tax of Rs 286 crore in 2024-25. IPO proceeds are expected to fund a Rs 16,194 crore expansion plan covering transmission upgrades and renewable integration.

Pace Digitek, Solarworld, Enviro Infra win NTPC BESS orders

NTPC Limited has awarded battery energy storage system (BESS) EPC contracts worth Rs 1,185 crore to Pace Digitek Limited, Solarworld Energy Solutions Limited, and Enviro Infra Engineers Limited. The contracts, issued on March 30, 2026, carry a standard execution timeline of 15 months. The projects span multiple thermal stations and include long-term maintenance of 11 years. Including an earlier round, NTPC has committed over Rs 2,576 crore for grid-scale BESS deployment across at least seven states.

Adani Energy Solutions wins South Kalamb ISTS project bid

Adani Energy Solutions Limited has been selected as the transmission service provider for the South Kalamb ISTS project in Maharashtra after quoting Rs 120.14 crore annual transmission charge. The special purpose vehicle was transferred for Rs 12.53 crore. The project includes new 765 kV and 400 kV infrastructure, ICTs, and LILO works on three lines. It is scheduled for completion within 24 months and aims to strengthen grid capacity and future evacuation.

AGEL operationalises 951 MW, total capacity reaches 18,933 MW

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has operationalised 951 MW across Rajasthan and Gujarat, taking total capacity to 18,933.3 MW. The addition includes 251 MW at Baiya and 700 MW at Khavda. The projects became operational between March 29 and March 30, 2026. The Khavda renewable energy park continues to anchor capacity additions.

Oyster Renewable, Jindal Stainless commission 315.6 MW hybrid project

Oyster Renewable Energy Private Limited and Jindal Stainless Limited have partially commissioned a 315.6 MW solar-wind hybrid project in Madhya Pradesh, with Gujarat capacity pending. The project involves over Rs 2,000 crore investment, including Rs 132 crore from Jindal Stainless. It combines bifacial solar modules with Suzlon 3.15 MW wind turbines to reduce variability. Once fully operational, it is expected to reduce carbon emissions by about 6.5 lakh metric tonnes annually.

Premier Energies commissions 5.6 GW solar module plant in Telangana

Premier Energies Limited has commissioned a 5.6 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Telangana, increasing total capacity to 11.1 GW. The plant spans 75 acres and has begun trial production. It produces G12R TOPCon modules using Zero Busbar architecture and can manufacture four modules every 16 seconds. The facility forms part of a Rs 12,500 crore expansion plan.

Rays Power secures 200 MW RTC project from REMC

Rays Power Infra Limited has secured a 200 MW round-the-clock renewable energy project from Railway Energy Management Corporation Limited (REMC). The project will integrate over 700 MW of solar and wind capacity with more than 1,000 MWh BESS. It is scheduled for commissioning by June 2028 and will add about Rs 5,000 crore to the order book. The project will supply firm green power to Indian Railways.

IREDA raises JPY 28 billion ECB from SMBC Singapore

Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) has signed an external commercial borrowing (ECB) facility of JPY 28 billion with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) Singapore Branch. The five-year unsecured loan includes a green shoe option of JPY 12 billion. The agreement does not involve any security or related party transaction. The facility supports IREDA’s strategy to diversify funding sources under its Rs 40,000 crore borrowing programme.

IndiGrid completes Gujarat BESS acquisition for Rs 573 crore

IndiGrid Infrastructure Trust has completed the acquisition of Gujarat Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Private Limited from British International Investment PLC and Norfund. The transaction was executed at an enterprise value of approximately Rs 573 crore. The project operates under a BOO model and is expected to generate annual revenue of over Rs 97 crore over a 12-year concession. The acquisition adds a grid-scale storage asset to IndiGrid’s portfolio.

MoP clears transmission line for Project Nine’s 250 MW wind project

The Ministry of Power has authorised Project Nine Renewable Power Private Limited to lay a transmission line for its 250 MW wind project in Karnataka under Section 164 of the Electricity Act, 2003. The approval is valid for 25 years and includes powers of a telegraph authority. The project involves a 220 kV line connecting Nidagundi to Gadag-II pooling station. Prior approvals and public notices were completed with no objections received.

Diamond Power bags two Gujarat cable orders worth over Rs 104 crore

Diamond Power Infrastructure Limited has received two cable supply orders from Gujarat utilities worth over Rs 104 crore. The larger order from GETCO involves 270 km of 66 kV EHV cables valued at Rs 60.53 crore. The second order from UGVCL covers 453 km of cables worth Rs 43.93 crore. The orders take the company’s total order book past Rs 3,500 crore.

Jyoti Structures wins Rs 88 crore EHV line works from Adani Electricity

Jyoti Structures Limited has received an order worth Rs 88.33 crore from Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited for EHV transmission line modification works. The contract is to be executed within 12 months on a lump sum turnkey basis. Scope includes design, engineering, supply, erection, and commissioning. The project is linked to the Mumbai Coastal Road Project.

ACME Solar commissions Phase III of Bikaner BESS project

ACME Solar Holdings Limited has commissioned Phase III of its BESS project in Bikaner, Rajasthan, adding 11.429 MW / 51.354 MWh. The cumulative commissioned capacity has reached 107.143 MW / 481.440 MWh. The total sanctioned capacity stands at 250 MW / 1,103.392 MWh. Remaining capacity will be commissioned in phases.

Saatvik Solar secures Rs 57 crore PV module supply order

Saatvik Solar Industries Private Limited has secured a PV module supply order worth Rs 57.03 crore from a domestic IPP or EPC player. The company stated that the transaction is not a related party transaction. This follows earlier orders totalling Rs 666.74 crore disclosed on March 27. The contracts are scheduled for execution by March 2027.

Sungrow signs 1,155 MWh C&I BESS deal in South Africa

Sungrow has signed an agreement with Herholdt’s Group to deploy 1,155 MWh of C&I BESS across South Africa. The rollout will be executed in phases, with financial terms undisclosed. The systems aim to improve reliability and support renewable integration for commercial users. The deployment reflects growing demand for storage amid ongoing grid instability and load-shedding.
