The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued a circular notifying revised eligibility for concessional customs duty on imported forged steel rings used in wind energy generators. The clarification, dated February 4, 2026, follows a recent customs notification issued by the Department of Revenue.
The update refers to Notification No. 02/2026-Customs issued by the Department of Revenue on February 1, 2026, under which a new clause has been inserted in the customs tariff. The clause applies to forged steel rings classified under tariff item 7326 90 99, when used for the manufacture of special bearings for wind-operated electricity generators.
Following this change, the MNRE has directed applicants to route all applications for Concessional Customs Duty Certificate (CCDC) through its designated Wind CCDC portal. The ministry has stated that applications should include supporting documents such as invoices and packing lists that clearly correspond to tariff item 7326 90 99, to enable processing of duty concession certificates for imports.
