POWERGRID acquires SR and ER Power Transmission

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has acquired SR and ER Power Transmission Limited (SRERPTL) after emerging as the successful bidder under a tariff based competitive bidding process.
In a regulatory filing dated February 3, 2026, POWERGRID said it has completed the acquisition of the project specific company. SRERPTL is the special purpose vehicle created to implement the Inter Regional Strengthening between SR Grid and ER Grid project on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis. The project involves construction of 765 kV double circuit transmission lines in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, along with associated bays and reactors.
POWERGRID received Letter of Intent for the project from PFC Limited on 15 December 2025.
SRERPTL was incorporated on August 22, 2025, and has not yet commenced commercial operations, with no turnover recorded. POWERGRID said the acquisition is in line with its core power transmission business. Following the takeover, SRERPTL will approach the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) for the grant of a transmission license and adoption of transmission charges.
