Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has approved a capital investment of Rs 173.14 crore to augment a key substation in Kerala.
The capital expenditure was sanctioned by the Committee of Directors on Investment on Projects at its meeting held on January 30, 2026. The approved scheme involves the augmentation of one 500 MVA, 400/220 kV interconnecting transformer, identified as the third ICT, at the Thrissur VSC HVDC Station in Kerala. The project is aimed at strengthening the regional transmission network and is scheduled for commissioning on August 21, 2027.
On the financial front, POWERGRID reported a consolidated profit after tax of Rs 4,160.17 crore for the third quarter, reflecting a year on year increase of 6.8%. Revenue for the quarter stood at Rs 11,005.28 crore.
The board also declared a second interim dividend of Rs 3.25 per equity share, equivalent to 32.5% of the face value. The record date for determining shareholder eligibility is February 09, 2026, with the dividend scheduled to be paid on February 27, 2026.
In a separate strategic decision, the board approved the sale of its stake in three joint ventures, Torrent Power Grid, Sikkim Power Transmission, and Parbati Koldam.
