The Madhya Pradesh cabinet has approved the development of three solar cum energy storage power supply projects to meet the state’s energy needs and improve grid reliability. The projects will be implemented through Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (REWA).
According to the state government, the approved projects together account for an aggregate solar capacity of 800 MW and are intended to support peak power demand in Madhya Pradesh. The initiative is part of the state’s broader effort to integrate renewable energy with storage to ensure a reliable electricity supply.
The approved portfolio includes a 300 MW solar project with four hours of battery energy storage, a 300 MW solar project with six hours of storage, and a 200 MW solar project designed to provide 24 hour power supply. All three projects will be developed under a single cycle charging-based energy storage configuration.
The government stated that this configuration is expected to enable the delivery of clean and dependable power during peak demand periods, while strengthening the overall resilience of the state grid.
