Rail Energy Management Company Limited (REMCL) has awarded a long term Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contract to POWERCON for its 26 MW wind power project in Rajasthan, marking the transition of the project into its next operational phase.

The wind project comprises 13 Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) of Inox Wind, each with a capacity of 2 MW. The turbines have completed their initial 10 year O&M tenure under the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). With the assets entering the second phase of their lifecycle, POWERCON will take responsibility for technical restoration and long term performance management.

POWERCON will execute the work in two phases. The first phase will focus on detailed technical assessment and remediation. The company will carry out diagnostics on all WTGs and associated unit substations, followed by corrective measures to restore functionality, ensure safety system reliability and stabilise turbine performance.

The second phase will involve a comprehensive 10 year O&M period. During this tenure, the focus will be on sustaining high energy availability, improving reliability, enhancing productivity and extending the overall operational life of the wind farm.

This contract comes alongside REMCL’s broader renewable energy initiatives. REMCL, a joint venture of Indian Railways and RITES, recently concluded its 1 GW Round The Clock (RTC) renewable energy tender in November. The tender closed at a uniform tariff of Rs 4.35 per kilowatt hour (kWh), following a competitive bidding process launched in August 2025 with participation from nine bidders.
