Waaree Energies announced that its solar photovoltaic cells have been included in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) Approved List of Models and Manufacturers List II (ALMM List II) for solar photovoltaic cells. The inclusion was notified under the third revision of ALMM List II issued on 15 December 2025.

According to the notification, Waaree’s solar cell manufacturing facility at Degam, Chikhli, Navsari in Gujarat has been approved with a total annual capacity of 5.25 GW. This comprises 3,923 MW of n type tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) cells and 1,328 MW of p type passivated emitter and rear cell (PERC) bifacial cells.

Waaree stated that the approval strengthens domestic manufacturing and backward integration within India’s solar value chain. The company already features in ALMM List I for solar photovoltaic modules, and the latest inclusion positions it as an integrated supplier covering both cells and modules.

Commenting on the development, Sunil Rathi, Executive Director at Waaree, said the ALMM List II approval for solar cells supports the expansion of domestic manufacturing and reduces dependence on imports. He added that scaling high efficiency TOPCon and PERC cell production in India provides project developers and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) companies with greater certainty on quality, supply continuity, and regulatory compliance.

The inclusion further enhances Waaree’s role as a cell to module supplier for India’s utility scale and commercial solar market, aligned with national manufacturing and renewable energy deployment goals.
