ACME Solar appoints new CPO, secures Rs 4,725 crore financing

ACME Solar Holdings Limited announced the appointment of Ayalur S Kumar as Chief Procurement and Supply Chain Officer on 17 December 2025. Kumar brings over 30 years of experience across renewable energy, electric vehicle infrastructure, and the power sector, with prior roles at Fortum, Skoda Power, ABB, and Alstrom. Separately, on 18 December 2025, ACME Solar disclosed a debt commitment of Rs 4,725 crore through its subsidiaries to fund new projects and refinance existing debt. The financing includes support from Power Finance Corporation Limited, the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development, and Yes Bank, contributing to lower borrowing costs and improved capital efficiency.

Emmvee subsidiary secures KIADB land, plans SPV investment

Emmvee Photovoltaic Power Limited stated that its wholly owned subsidiary received possession of 100 acres of land from the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board on 17 December 2025. The land is intended to support backward integration initiatives aimed at cost control and supply chain optimisation. On the same day, the subsidiary agreed to invest Rs 8.544 crore for a 14.35 per cent equity stake in Clean Renewable Energy KK 1C Private Limited, a special purpose vehicle for a 175 MW hybrid project in Karnataka. The transaction is not a related party deal and is expected to be completed within one month.

GE Vernova wins PGCIL order for Chandrapur HVDC upgrade

GE Vernova T and D India Limited received a Letter of Award from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited on 17 December 2025 for refurbishing the 2 x 500 MW Chandrapur HVDC back to back link. The project involves modernisation of thyristor valves and control and protection systems. Execution will take place over a multi year period and does not involve any related party transaction. The upgrade is expected to improve reliability and efficiency of power transfer between India’s Northern and Southern regions.

NTPC commissions over 359 MW solar capacity in Rajasthan and Gujarat

NTPC Group announced the commercial commissioning of more than 359 MW of solar capacity across projects in Rajasthan and Gujarat during 17 to 18 December 2025. The additions include 78 MW at the Nokh Solar Project in Rajasthan and multiple tranches from the Khavda solar projects in Gujarat through NTPC Green Energy Limited. Following these commissions, NTPC Limited’s standalone capacity reached 60,783 MW. The total installed and commercial capacity of the NTPC Group has now increased to 85,541 MW.

POWERGRID clears HVDC refurbishment spend, commissions WRES XXV

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited approved an investment of Rs 1,226.93 crore for refurbishing the Bhadrawati Chandrapur 2 x 500 MW HVDC back to back system at its board meeting on 17 December 2025. The project will be implemented over 36 months and forms part of the 2024 to 2029 tariff block capital expenditure plan. Separately, POWERGRID confirmed the commissioning of the Western Region Expansion Scheme Twenty Five transmission project. The project achieved commercial operation on 12 November 2025, with formal confirmation received on 17 December 2025.

Suzlon wins 306 MW wind orders from Yanara for Rajasthan FDRE projects

Suzlon Energy Limited secured two wind power orders totalling 306 MW from Yanara on 17 December 2025. The contracts involve supplying 102 units of S144 3 MW wind turbine generators for two 153 MW firm and dispatchable renewable energy projects in Barmer, Rajasthan. Power from the projects will be used by Yanara to meet power purchase agreement commitments with utilities including NTPC and NHPC. The projects are part of Yanara’s plan to develop a multi gigawatt hybrid renewable energy portfolio in India.

Waaree solar cells added to MNRE ALMM List II

Waaree Energies confirmed that its solar photovoltaic cells have been added to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Approved List of Models and Manufacturers List II under the third revision dated 15 December 2025. The approved capacity of 5.25 GW covers n type TOPCon and p type PERC bifacial cells manufactured at its Gujarat facility. Waaree is already listed under ALMM List I for modules, and the new inclusion strengthens its backward integration. The approval supports domestic manufacturing and reduces reliance on imports for India’s solar sector.

ReNew signs long term solar agreement with Google in Rajasthan

ReNew Energy Global Plc signed a long term agreement with Google to support a 150 MW solar power project in Rajasthan, scheduled for commissioning in 2026. Under the arrangement, Google will procure the project’s energy attributes, supporting bankability and value chain emission reduction efforts. The project is expected to generate around 425,000 MWh annually, equivalent to the power consumption of more than 360,000 Indian households. With this deal, ReNew’s commercial and industrial portfolio has expanded to 2.7 GW.
