BNC Power wins NTPC switchyard package for Gadarwara Stage II

NTPC has awarded BNC Power Projects three contracts worth about Rs 4.06 billion for the switchyard package of the 2×800 MW Gadarwara Stage II plant in Madhya Pradesh. The orders cover supply, transport, installation, testing, commissioning, and civil works. Gadarwara Stage II consists of Units 3 and 4 and uses ultra supercritical technology with PPAs already tied up. Project cost remains at Rs 204.46 billion, with Rs 10.71 billion spent by 31 October 2025. Early construction milestones run through 2027 and 2028, and the units are scheduled to commission in September 2029 and March 2030.

Websol signs MoU with Linton Crystal for PV ingot and wafer plan

Websol Energy System has signed an MoU with Linton Crystal Technologies to study ingot and wafer manufacturing in India. The proposal involves equipment supply, technical support, and training from Linton to improve domestic capability and reduce imports. Linton specialises in Czochralski furnaces and crystal processing systems. Websol is also evaluating a separate 4 GW integrated cell and module project in Andhra Pradesh. Both initiatives remain under assessment.

Telangana clears plan to procure 3 GW solar over five years

Telangana has approved competitive bidding for 3 GW of solar capacity to meet its Renewable Consumption Obligation under the Clean and Green Energy Policy 2025. The state estimates a need for 12,000 MW of new renewables by 2030 and has adopted a phased solar plan, starting with 3,000 MW. Procurement will run in three stages between June 2026 and June 2027, with TGREDCO managing bids through ISTS and InSTS routes. The plan aligns with the Rising 2047 vision that targets large renewable additions, net zero, and sector wide emissions reduction. Supporting measures cover transport, agriculture, waste management, and MSME monitoring.

Insolation Green wins Rs 5.16 billion solar module supply orders

Insolation Green Energy has secured two module supply orders worth about Rs 5.16 billion. The first is a Rs 3.57 billion order for n type TOPCon modules from a private producer. The second, valued at about Rs 1.59 billion, covers supplies for PM KUSUM projects across Andhra Pradesh with deliveries through 2025–26 and 2026–27. The company also reported a Rs 2.32 billion turnkey order from Silgo Retail in October.

Apraava Energy secures Rs 800 crore for AMI expansion

Apraava Energy has raised Rs 800.9 crore from British International Investment and Standard Chartered to scale its smart metering portfolio. The company plans to expand installations under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme, which targets 250 million smart meters by 2026. Apraava aims to deploy about 7.8 million meters and expects this funding to support around two million additional installations. The company has already met key RDSS milestones in Assam and Himachal Pradesh.

UGVCL issues uniform method for banking charge and setoff calculations

UGVCL has instructed its circle offices to use a standard method for banking charge and energy setoff calculations for captive and third party solar plants. The directive outlines how certified generation should be adjusted for losses, compared with consumption, and converted into banked units capped at 30 percent of net use. It refers to specific GERC tariff orders and open access regulations to guide compliance. The method also separates peak and off peak banked units before computing final payable energy. All circle offices are expected to apply the process to relevant projects.

MSEDCL issues guidelines for smart meter installation for HT consumers

MSEDCL has mandated smart meter replacements for HT billing meters with ABT and Net Metering facilities, including Open Access ABT meters. Installation needs completion within three days from 04 December 2025. New Open Access and Net Metering connections will use smart meters based on updated specifications. Check meters, summator meters, and dual source meters have limited or no replacement requirements. Implementation will be overseen by Chief Engineers Operations and Maintenance.

TARIL wins Rs 53 crore HVDC transformer order from Power Grid

Transformers and Rectifiers India Limited has received a Rs 53.33 crore contract from Power Grid for a 397 MVA HVDC converter transformer. The scope includes repair, erection, testing, commissioning, and associated work, with delivery planned for the next financial year. TARIL said this is its first HVDC converter transformer contract as an Indian private manufacturer. The company expects the order to strengthen its role in the growing HVDC market linked to renewable integration and transmission expansion.

International Geothermal Standard Committee launched in Beijing

The International Geothermal Association has formed a new standards committee with Sinopec as the Secretariat host. Experts from 15 countries will develop a unified framework covering drilling, heating, power generation, reservoir engineering, and exploration. The group has adopted its procedures and work plan for 2025 to 2027. Leaders said shared standards will support faster deployment and a more reliable supply chain. Sinopec highlighted its experience shaping national and international geothermal standards and its Xiongxian heating project featured by the International Renewable Energy Agency.
