APTRANSCO awards 1,000 MW BESS tender with VGF support

The Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited (APTRANSCO) has announced the winners of its VGF tender for 1,000 MW and 2,000 MWh standalone BESS projects. The tender was issued in August 2025 under a single-stage, two-envelope system that required both technical and financial bids.

SVR Electro Projects secured 25 MW and 50 MWh at a tariff of Rs 148,000 per MW per month. Ecoren Energy won 275 MW and 550 MWh, Bhagwati Group took 75 MW and 150 MWh, and Legion Energy Products received 25 MW and 50 MWh. These bidders quoted tariffs of Rs 150,000 per MW per month. Bondada Engineering won 225 MW and 450 MWh, and Power Grid Corporation of India secured 150 MW and 300 MWh, both at Rs 164,000 per MW per month. Ecoren Energy also added 225 MW and 450 MWh at Rs 165,000 per MW per month.

Projects will be developed on a build, own and operate basis. VGF support will be capped at Rs 1.8 million per MWh and will be released in three phases. Developers will sign a Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement with APTRANSCO and the state distribution companies. Sites span several substations, including Hindupur, Talaricheruvu, Kalikiri, Pampanuruthanda, Maradam, Simhachalam, and Gajuwaka.
