Jakson Group has started construction on the first phase of its 6 GW integrated solar manufacturing facility in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav laid the foundation stone for the project, which will cover ingot, wafer, cell, and module production.

The first phase will include 3 GW of solar cell capacity and 4 GW of solar module capacity. The company plans to add ingot and wafer lines in later phases to complete backward integration. The total project investment exceeds Rs 80 billion.

Jakson had announced in August that it would invest more than Rs 8,000 crore to set up the 6 GW integrated plant at Maksi Phase II in the state. The new facility is intended to support India’s push to expand domestic solar manufacturing and reduce import dependence.
