Sunsure Energy has commissioned an 82.5 MWp open-access solar project in Jhansi district, Uttar Pradesh. The plant is expected to generate around 0.12 billion units of electricity annually and supply industries in the state with cost-competitive green power.
The company operates approximately 260 MWp of open-access solar capacity across Agra, Banda, Mahoba, Jhansi, and Chitrakoot, delivering power to sectors including FMCG, ceramics, metals, and chemicals. The Jhansi project alone is projected to produce 12.8 crore units per year and offset over 2.2 million tonnes of COâ‚‚e over its operational lifetime.
Shashank Sharma, founder, chairman, and CEO of Sunsure Energy, said the Jhansi project is the company’s tenth plant in Uttar Pradesh, increasing its operational capacity to nearly 300 MW since 2021. He highlighted that the state’s Solar Energy Policy 2022 supports open-access, rooftop solar, and third-party power sales, providing IPPs with incentives such as waivers on electricity duty, transmission, and wheeling charges.
The Jhansi plant will supply power to Haldiram’s, APL Apollo, and one of India’s largest data centres.Â
