Serentica Renewables has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for 100 megawatts (MW) of round-the-clock renewable supply.
The company stated that this is the country’s first “load-following” PPA, developed in consultation with SECI and state distribution companies (DISCOMs) to align with the seasonal load profile of the offtakers.
The agreement requires Serentica to meet 80 per cent of the contracted hourly demand each month. The load obligation will vary between 17 MW during low-demand hours and 100 MW during peak demand periods. To deliver this, Serentica plans to use a combination of wind and solar power along with battery energy storage systems (BESS). The project is expected to generate more than 400 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity each year.
According to Akshay Hiranandani, chief executive officer of Serentica Renewables, the contract demonstrates how new approaches in renewable power procurement can support grid stability while advancing decarbonisation goals.
