The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) has announced that the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group will develop a renewable energy project in Sector 8B near Noida International Airport, with a planned investment of Rs 3,000 crore. The project will include a 3 GW solar cell facility and an integrated solar ecosystem hub.
The plan includes a 60 MW captive solar and energy storage plant. Advanced solar technologies such as tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) and perovskite-tandem cells will be deployed, along with a dedicated power plant with energy storage to support a reliable supply.
The project is expected to achieve solar cell efficiencies above 28 to 30 per cent, with potential reductions in power costs by 10 to 15 per cent.
Yeida has issued a Letter of Intent for 100 acres in Sector 8D to facilitate the development. The project will include ancillary units for components like frames, encapsulants, and process consumables, aimed at reducing dependence on imported solar modules.
