State Bank of India (SBI) has signed a €100 million Line of Credit agreement with Agence Française de Développement (AFD) at its GIFT City branch on August 30, 2025. The financing will support green projects in the country.
According to SBI, the funds will be directed toward climate mitigation activities aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adaptation measures to limit the impact of climate change. The bank said the partnership will contribute to India’s shift toward a low-carbon economy and help strengthen resilience against climate risks.
SBI has set a target of having green assets account for 7.5 to 10 percent of its domestic gross advances by 2030. The credit line with AFD will also allow the bank to offer financing solutions that support India’s energy transition.
The bank has previously raised credit lines from multilateral development banks and development finance institutions to fund sustainable projects. SBI said the collaboration with AFD aligns with its broader green finance strategy and the national vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
