Suzlon Group has pledged to run all 15 of its manufacturing facilities entirely on renewable energy by 2030. The company has also become the first from India to join the RE100 Initiative, a global program led by Climate Group in partnership with the Carbon Disclosure Project.

The initiative is part of Suzlon’s wider decarbonization strategy. The company aims to achieve carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2035 and net zero for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 2040. Scope 1 includes direct operational emissions, Scope 2 refers to indirect emissions from purchased power, and Scope 3 covers the supply chain and product lifecycle.

Suzlon reported progress on its sustainability goals over the past year. Its Rotor Blade Unit in Dhule is operating fully on renewable energy, helping the company reach 92.87 per cent carbon neutrality at the plant level. It also recorded a 17.19 per cent reduction in energy intensity from FY 2023-24, cut Scope 1 and 2 emission intensity by 88.51 per cent, and increased renewable energy consumption by 80.7 per cent.

RE100 includes more than 400 global companies committed to shifting to 100 per cent renewable electricity. Suzlon has joined as the first Gold Member from India.
