Jain Irrigation–H2e Power JV wins PGCIL green hydrogen pilot project

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has awarded a Rs 233.39 million contract to a joint venture of Jain Irrigation Systems Limited and H2e Power Systems Private Limited for setting up a green hydrogen microgrid pilot project. 

The project involves establishing a Solar PV-powered green hydrogen and fuel cell-based microgrid pilot at the 400/220/33 kV Neemrana substation in Rajasthan. Listed as T&D-Pilot Package GH2-01, the project will be executed on a build-operate-maintain model for 10 years.  

The winning bid was selected from among 15 participants. Qualified bidders included Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, InSolare Energy, Jakson Green, Rays Power Infra, and Amara Raja Infra. 

Bidders disqualified during the evaluation included the JV of Greenzo Energy and Solar Pulse Energy, SSBI Exports Private Limited, and Gensol Engineering Limited.

The contract was finalised on July 3, 2025, and completion is scheduled by July 2026.
