At the G7 Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to affordable and sustainable energy. Speaking at the 50th anniversary of the G7, he highlighted energy security as a core responsibility and called for collective action to support energy transitions globally.
The Prime Minister stressed that India is advancing on the principles of availability, accessibility, affordability, and acceptability.
He raised concerns over the unequal impact of global crises on the Global South. Energy insecurity, he noted, affects food, mobility, and economic stability.
In his remarks on technology, he underlined the growing energy intensity of AI infrastructure, especially data centres. He argued that only renewable sources can sustainably meet these rising demands. India is therefore investing in solar energy, small modular reactors, energy storage systems, smart grids, and green energy corridors.
Prime Minister Modi called for international cooperation on critical mineral supply chains and energy technology access. He concluded by inviting global partners to India’s upcoming AI Impact Summit, tying energy security to both innovation and equity.
