UPSIDA earmarks industrial hubs for solar projects

Author: PPD Team Date: June 17, 2025

The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has selected industrial zones across the state to set up solar power plants. The move falls under the Uttar Pradesh Solar Energy Policy 2022 and was announced on June 15, 2025.

Sites include Surajpur Site-5 and EPIPР in Gautam Budh Nagar, TDS City in Ghaziabad, and the Special Economic Zone in Moradabad. Other locations are Baghpat, Agra, Mathura, Jhansi, Prayagraj, and Shahjahanpur.

The state aims to install 22,000 MW of solar power by 2026–27. Plans cover utility-scale solar plants, rooftop systems, ultra mega solar parks, and distributed solar networks.

Private sector participation is a core focus. To support this, the policy offers several incentives. These include a capital subsidy of Rs 2.5 crore per MW for projects with four-hour battery storage, land at nominal rates for government undertakings, and tax exemptions on electricity duty and stamp duty.
