NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) for a 1,000 MW solar PV project. The tariff has been fixed at Rs 2.56 per kWh, making it one of the most competitively priced utility-scale solar projects in India this year.
The agreement follows NTPC’s earlier win in UPPCL’s solar power auction announced on January 4, 2025. With this PPA now executed, the project formally enters NTPC’s renewable energy development pipeline.
The project will contribute significantly to Uttar Pradesh’s grid-scale renewable energy capacity and aligns with NTPC’s ongoing efforts to expand its clean energy portfolio. It also reflects continued downward pressure on solar tariffs through competitive bidding.
