Patel Engineering Limited has secured an EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contract worth Rs 7.11 billion from NEEPCO Limited for the 240 MW Heo hydropower project in Arunachal Pradesh. The project is located in the Shi Yomi district and is scheduled for completion within 44 months.

The scope of work includes civil works, infrastructure construction, testing, commissioning, and hydro-mechanical systems installation. The 240 MW project (3×80 MW units) is expected to generate 1,000 million units (MU) of electricity per year. Arunachal Pradesh will receive 12 per cent of this power for free, and another 1 per cent will be earmarked for the Local Area Development Fund (LADF).

The HEO project was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs in November 2024 with a total investment of Rs 19.39 billion. The EPC portion is valued at Rs 10.61 billion. NEEPCO is implementing the project in partnership with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

The Centre has committed Rs 1.27 billion for related infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and transmission lines. An additional Rs 1.30 billion in Central Financial Assistance has been allocated to support the state’s equity share in the project.
